The Great Adventure of 2018 has begun!!!  It started on Saturday, March 17th, with a 8:45 flight out of Madison to Detroit. A couple hour layover in Detroit and then I was on my next flight to Seoul, South Korea.  A very quick 45 minute layover in Seoul, then on to the final flight of the day to Bangkok.  I arrived in Bangkok on March 18th at about 9:00p.m.  I had until the next morning before my flight to Bhutan took off so I got a hotel near the airport.  It took forever to get through immigration, but finally after navigating the airport and finding my shuttle to my hotel, I arrived around 11:30.  Checked in and tried to go to bed.  I did manage to get about 3 hours sleep before I had to catch the shuttle back to the airport in Bangkok at 4:30a.m.  Got all checked in and boarded my flight to Paro, Bhutan at 7:00.  Arrived in Paro this morning, the 19th,  at about 10:30.  Found my guide and driver for the week and we set off.

We left Paro and made our way to Thimphu, the capitol of the country.  It was about an hour and a half drive through the amazing valleys and mountains of Bhutan.  We stopped for a nice lunch on the way and made it to Thimphu.   I checked into my hotel and got situated.  Grabbed my camera and went for a walk in downtown Thimphu.  Not really much happening today except a lot of traffic.  I managed to take a couple photos that aren't my favorites, but I wanted to get the blog posts started.  Back in my room now and blogging.  About to go to dinner in an hour.  Then some much needed sleep!

Tomorrow we will be going to Phunaka.  It is a valley and a bit more isolated.  Not sure what we will see on the way, but tomorrow there will be more photos.  Hopefully...

See you on the flip side...
